About Stephen Pretorius

Stephen qualified as a dentist at Pretoria University in South Africa in 1981. He became the first dentist to be accepted as a specialist in Periodontics and Oral Medicine by the College of Medicine of South Africa in 1989. He has three degrees in dentistry and is registered as specialist in Periodontics in the United Kingdom. Stephen worked at two universities in South Africa as Principal specialist, Chief specialist and Head of the Department before he moved to the United Kingdom in 1999 to join one of his colleagues as partner in a dental practice. His special field of interest is all aspects of periodontal treatment, including dental implants and cosmetic gum tissue surgery. Dr Pretorius is married to Adrie, a medical scientist, and has one son and two daughters. He enjoys golf, travel and reading in his leisure time.
