dr hakeem is the dentist i see at the surgery and she is fantastic! i'm always seen on time & sometimes even earlier than my appointment time & her treatment is excellent. my family all see her ( 8 members ) & we all think she is great. it started with my uncle first and he recomended another family member & because she is so good with all of us- then one by one we all were lucky enough for her to take us as her patients. cant imagine having treatment with any other dentist now that i have seen what a good dentist is actually like ; so i hope she stays at the practice for keeps. i recomend her to all friends & family i have becuase it is so hard to get on a dentist list, let alone a great one. professional, caring, considerate and great treatment- not just for me but all my 8 family members also. the nurses also have always been great and professional whenever i have been there. the reception too is good and efficient although not quite as friendly as my dentist or the nurses but it could just be the fact they are always so busy with so many patients when i see them. i recommned her to eveyone and you will be the lucky patient if you can get on her list.

I have read some of the review and I felt I had to add one about my dentist. She has always been extremely professional, courteous and explains everything before carrying out the treatment. Along with her nurse and the receptionist who have always been fantastic with me in the years I have seen her. This is the first time in over 30 years that I have had a painfree, happy smile whilst always knowing what is being done.And I have always found appointment easy to obtain. However when I was last at the practice I was disgusted by the conduct on one of the patients in the waiting room and it was a woman!! She was rude, aggressive and abusive to the staff and I was appalled. Having worked in the NHS myself I am fully aware of the atrocious conditions NHS staff have to endure with such patients around- it is disgusting !! And such websites do not help as they show a very one sided view - but I am aware that PCT are very happy about such web sites as they are seen to be "trendy" but infact are mainly used by the "trouble making patients" which all doctors, dentist ,nurses ,receptionists and other NHS staff have to deal with on a weekly basis. I am disgusted that such one sided websites are around which just encourage the NHS staff to go to other places eg USA and if we are not careful we will have more of a shortage of staff than we do already. So PCTs start supporting your staff more than the "trouble making " type patients who are easy to spot. Obviously there are some problems with some doctors, dentists, nurses and receptionists and they must be acknowleged but we need to be able to decipher the real stories from the lies , which we all know some patients can do !!! Dr Hakeem is a great dentist and the staff , keep up the good work!!

I went to see this particular dentist, and I was booked in during lunchtime which I thought was strange, however when I arrived the receptionist never informed the dentist of my arrival therefore I had to wait for 15 mins. Then I asked the receptionist again, and she mentioned that there was no appointment booked. A further 10 minutes later, she said there is an appointment and the dentist will see you. As I waited another 10 minutes or so, I was then told the dentist had left, conveniently through the back door so I could not have my appointment. This was appalling, and when I demanded an explanation I was told I was being abusive to the receptionist. The asian recptionist was particularly rude giving me attitude and dirty looks but told me to leave. A week later I received a letter from the dentist who said I was rude to the staff and that I would have one final appointment. The appointment was with Dr Hakeem and the rude asian receptionist turned nurse. They both went on a rant, accusing me of all sorts. I was so appalled I left without my treatment. Such a disgrace, unbelievable!

I have been associated with Ms Soutworths practice for many, many years. In general over about 5 years it has sorely deteriorated. But recent communications with the admin staff has been beyond belief. I have been made to feel affronted by the manner in which they..no, not talk to, but dictate to you. Attempting to make an appointment is like asking for an audience with the Pope. The inert attitude of one particular member of staff is alarming to say the least. They cancel appointments, they have a simplistic understanding of the manner in which comments and complaints should be received and addressed and retort with defensive, rude comments which in my opinion is not at all acceptable. Ms Southworth has been a hard working repected Dentist within the Blackburn area for many years but I am afraid that such a reputation is being quickly damaged by ill trained, ill mannered staff and inefficent Dentists at this practice.
