Mr Peter Thorpe had no patience at all with my sensitive gagging reflex, although I informed him of this before starting treatment. This is a condition I find very difficult to cope with. He just told me to stop gagging! He was very brusque and at times, in my opinion, rude. He didn't ask what I required, or indeed anything at all conected with my partial denture.
The denture was/still is ill fitting, and causing me pain in the roof of my mouth. He walked out of the surgery, leaving it to his dental nurse to ask where it hurt. Then all he did was slather the denture with fixadent and 'threw' it back into my mouth.
I left the surgery with a poor, ill fitting and painful denture, as I couldn't handle his attitude a minute longer. I doubt I would have been treated in this way if I'd been a private client, rather than a NHS non-paying 70 year old woman.
