About Cosimo Loperfido

Cosimo received his dental degree “Summa Cum Laude” from the University of Bari (Italy) in 1997. Upon his graduation, he completed a post-graduate course in oral surgery at the same university and joined the Italian Navy as a dental officer. A few years after graduation, he moved to the Netherlands, where he completed a 3-year post-graduate periodontal training accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). He obtained his Diploma and Master of Science (MSc) in Periodontology in 2004 from the University of Nijmegen. Additionally, during those years, he also worked as a researcher in the Department of Bio-Materials. Subsequently, he furthered his training at Loma Linda University, California, where he completed a six-month, full-time “Externship in Implant Dentistry,” followed by a 20-month, full-time “Fellowship in Implant Dentistry.” Cosimo concentrates on Periodontology and the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry and became a Specialist in Periodontics on the GDC’s UK Register in 2014. He has published in international journals and presented at international meetings and has recently accepted an appointment as postgraduate Clinical Teacher in Periodontology at Kings College, London. He is also involved in continuing professional development courses for dentists and dental hygienists.
