About Chris McConnell

Dr Chris McConnell qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 1999. Following graduation he worked in specialist hospital units in Bristol and Cardiff where he concentrated on oral surgery and restorative dentistry. He has also spent time working in exclusively private dental practices in Australia. He has a special interest in implant and cosmetic dentistry and has provided many solutions for his patients from simple corrections to full smile makeovers. He also has a special interest in sedation for anxious and phobic patients. He was one of the first dentists in Cornwall to accept referrals from patients and dentists for this type of treatment, and is currently the only dentist in cornwall to be dental phobia certified. Chris has undertaken extensive post-graduate training in both cosmetic and sedation dentistry and continues to devote many hours each year to post-graduate education. He believes that through this continual education he is able to bring the latest techniques and most modern materials available to his patients. 	100%	Like many people I do not look forward to visiting the dentist but over the years I have improved. Stuart (the dentist before Chris) started this process and Chris has carried this forward. Everything is explained to you and you can see that Chris has invested heavily in new equipment. Visiting the hygienist also used to make me nervous. I go every three months as I believe this helps prevent problems down the line. There also seems to be constant progress in this section of the practice. I am terrible with names, but the lady (Jenny?) who now does the scale & polish seems to take longer and is very thorough. Over the last year there has been a definite improvement in my gum health and plaque build up. This lady is also qualified to carry out fillings, she completed an emergency filling for me and it was no problem at all, just like Chris she explained the procedure and I felt relaxed and confident she would do a good job. Overall I get the feeling Chris and his staff are always striving to improve things and pride themselves in using the best and most up to date equipment and technology to ensure we are professionally cared for.
	100%	A relatively long procedure to deal with a broken tooth was relaxed, painless and extremely efficient. Chris is friendly, courteous and yet wastes no unnecessary time. The surgery offers reminders for appointments and is clean, warm and comfortable.
	100%	Very efficient practice with staff that understand the patients needs. All staff have a true empathy with the patient and support and reassurance are a priority.
	96%	I was Dentist phobic for years. I found St.Piran Dental Practise via a search engine and visited them for a check up. The tooth that has been giving me problems for quite some time was diagnosed as a wisdom tooth with needed extraction. My previous dentist had not diagnosed this after me constantly mentioning it! Chris at St.Pirran was brilliant! He explained my treatment and re assured me. I had the extraction under sedation with a couple of small fillings and some hygeneist work. Here I am less than 20 hours later with no pain at all writing this revue. There's not much else that I can say other than, "Chris and his team at St.Pirran really made me at ease and the treatment was brilliant!"
