'Invisible' Braces

There are a number of very good, well-known brands of clear aligner systems (such as Invisalign™), which can be used instead of conventional braces to correct badly aligned teeth in some cases.
They look like a very thin, completely clear gumshield, and are very easy to wear. Most people report that friends and family don’t even notice they have braces!
You will normally need an assessment with an orthodontic specialist to check your problem is suitable for correction with invisible braces before embarking on a course of treatment.
Once you’ve decided clear aligners are right for you, all you have to do is wear them – usually 22 hours a day is the recommended time for the aligners to be effective. Each aligner is typically worn for 10 – 14 days, then you move on to the next one, allowing them to gradually ease your teeth into alignment. Your orthodontist will probably like to see you at intervals to check progress.
The time it takes to correct your teeth depends on the degree of movement you want to achieve – it can be as little as 9 months for some people.
Just as with conventional brace treatment, you will need to wear retainers after your teeth have been brought into nice alignment. Your retainers may be removable or fixed behind your teeth.
